Is it safe for my child?

Stories are written to be warm and gentle, with tension matched to your child’s age, and every story is checked before you see it. You can add anything you’d like kept out of bedtime, and if something ever feels wrong you can tell us from the story itself.

What happens to my family’s details?

They’re used to write your stories, only after you agree, and never for ads. You can remove anything, or delete your account and everything with it, from inside the app.

A new story every night for your first week, then one new story a week for your household — continuing each one a few times, with read-along, bedtime music, the dark reader and sharing. Premium adds a story every night, every child in the family, and your whole shelf.

Can grandparents use it?

Yes. Send them a story by link — it opens in any browser — or invite them into your family: up to 4 grown-ups share one subscription.

Does it need an internet connection?

Only to write a new story. Stories you’ve already made are kept on your phone.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Once is for iPhone and iPad, in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Deleting your account

In the app

Open Once, then Profile › Settings › Delete account, and confirm. It takes effect straight away.

Without the app

Email hello@getonce.app from the address you signed in with, or tell us which Apple or Google account you used, and we will delete it and confirm within 30 days.

What happens

If you are the only grown-up in your family: your children, Your World and every story are erased, and your sign-in is removed.
If you share a family: your children, stories and Your World stay with the family, because they belong to the household. Your own account and sign-in are removed.
Links to stories that are erased stop working. Stories that stay with your family keep their links until they expire or someone turns them off.
Copies in our encrypted backups are erased within 14 days.

What is kept

A count of how many stories your sign-in has written, with nothing about the stories themselves, so the free allowance cannot be reset by deleting and starting again.
Any story you reported to us, for a limited period, so we can learn from it.
Technical records of story writing, which hold no account details and are deleted after 90 days.
Your subscription history with Apple, which Apple and RevenueCat keep under their own terms.

Your subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it first on your iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Once.
